Wellington City Ordinance Title 9 Summary of Business Licensing Requirements

Anyone engaged in business including, but not limited to – sale of tangible personal property at retail or wholesale, the manufacturing of goods or the rendering of person services is considered business. Piano Lessons require a business license.

New Business License Requirements

Business License Renewals

• Submit Application and $15.00 Application Fee
  
• Attend Planning and Zoning meeting (2nd Wednesday of the month)
  
• Planning and Zoning Commissioners will, if conditions are met, make a favorable recommendation for applicant to appear before City Council.
  
• Applicant appears before City Council for a review (3rd Wednesday of the month). 
  
• Upon approval applicant pays $50.00 business license fee. If required applicant may also need to pay $50.00 fire inspection fee.
  
• City Hall will issue a business license once all fees are paid
  

All business licenses expire on December 31st of the current calendar year. Businesses will receive renewal forms in December. Renewal fees are based on total gross income received by the business during the year prior. Renewal fees are $50.00 minimum, $300 maximum. A late fee of 10% is assessed if not renewed prior to February 1st.

Wellington City has contracted with Payment Service Network to allow citizens to pay their business license application and renewal online. You can also pay by phone by calling 1-877-885-7968.

You will need to do the following:

• Follow this link to their website and register 
• Enter the Wellington Code # RT19423 for Business License Payments
• Enter Your Utility Account Number

If you have already registered with PSN: 

• Log in and select the My Profile tab
• Select the Manage Additional Profiles tab
• Click the Add Company to Profile button
• Select search by Business ID and search for 19423
